This Privacy Policy governs your use of SensorCircle (“the app”), a mobile application that allows users to search the National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) in several different ways. By using SensorCircle, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

 

Information You Provide

SensorCircle’s free tier requires no registration. To purchase a SensorCircle Protect subscription, you will be asked to provide an email address for account verification and subscription management purposes. No other personal information is required.

Automatically Collected Information

SensorCircle may automatically collect the following information:

• The type of mobile device you use
• Your mobile device’s unique device identifier
• The IP address of your mobile device at the time of account creation
• Your mobile operating system
• Information about how you use the app

 

Location Information

SensorCircle collects precise real-time location information from your device to provide its core functionality — displaying registered offenders near your current position. Location data is used solely within the app to perform proximity searches and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

2. Data Sources

All sex offender registry data displayed in SensorCircle is sourced exclusively from the National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW), operated by the U.S. Department of Justice. SensorCircle does not independently maintain registry data and is not responsible for its accuracy or completeness. Users seeking official records should consult their state’s registry directly.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used to:

• Verify your email address prior to activating a paid subscription
• Manage and maintain your SensorCircle Protect subscription status
• Restore your subscription on a new device or after reinstallation
• Communicate important notices about your account or the app
• Detect and prevent fraudulent subscription activity

 

4. Subscriptions and Billing

SensorCircle Protect subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. SensorCircle does not collect or store your payment information. All billing, cancellation, and refund inquiries should be directed to the respective platform. Subscription entitlements are verified through RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

SensorCircle does not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do not run advertisements within the app. We may disclose your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process
• When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others
• With trusted service providers who work on our behalf, are bound by confidentiality obligations, and have no independent right to use the information we share with them
• In the event SensorCircle is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case you will be notified by email of any change in ownership or data practices

 

6. Data Retention

We retain your email address and subscription records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to support subscription restoration and account inquiries. Automatically collected device information is retained for up to 24 months. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at [email protected]. Please note that some information may be required for the app to function properly.

7. Opt-Out and Data Deletion

You may stop all data collection by uninstalling SensorCircle at any time using the standard uninstall process on your device or through your mobile app marketplace. To request deletion of your personal data, email [email protected] with your request and we will process it within a reasonable time.

8. Children’s Privacy

SensorCircle does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided personal information through the app without their consent, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete that information within a reasonable time.

9. Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. Access to personal data is limited to authorized personnel who require it to operate or improve the app. While we strive to maintain reasonable security practices, no system can guarantee complete protection against all potential security incidents.

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised policy within the app or by email if you have an active account. The effective date at the top of this document will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of SensorCircle after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
